Monastery of Uruvela


Situated at a distance of 127.8 km from Patna Bodhgaya is considered the holiest place for Buddhists where devotees and tourists from all around the world visit to witness this holy place.

 

One of the UNESCO World Heritage sites located in Bodhgaya is the Mahabodhi Temple which is also locally known as the great awakening Temple. Visitors are allowed to enter the temple between 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. approx. 2 to 3 hours are required to explore Mahabodhi Temple. Gaya railway station is the nearest railway station from Mahabodhi Temple which is located at a distance of 16 kilometers. 


 

You will find the tallest statue of Lord Buddha of India in Bodhgaya. The statue was stated by the XlV Dalai Lama in 1989. The statue is beautifully covered in sandstone and red granite. The statue represents a lot Buddha in a rusting position on a giant lotus.
