New Tehri situated in Kanatal is the only planned city in the entire Uttarakhand. The famous Tehri Lake and Tehri dam are located in New Tehri. 

Tehri Dam is Asia's largest and highest Dam at an elevation of 260 m above sea level it is also the 10th tallest dam in the world. Tehri Dam is the major attraction of the new Tehri. 

One can also visit the Chandrabadni Temple which is devoted to the goddess Sati. The entire temple is called out of white marbles and tiles. You can also visit Sem Mukhem Temple, which is spiritual as well as adventurous. From New Tehri, one needs to trek for 7 km from Chamba khal which is 64 km.

A hidden treasure is located on the Mussoorie Chamba route which is almost 22 km away from Kanatal. The name of the place is Dhanaulti, which offers a picturesque view of the place surrounded by a thick cover of rhododendron, a snow-covered peak, a green valley and offers pleasant weather.
