The first thing after visiting Manali should be to explore old Manali. Manaslu river divides the Manali into two parts namely old Manali and new Manali. Old Manali is less crowded than the new Manali. Both the places are situated at approx a distance of 3 km which will take 15 to 20 km to reach by trekking uphill.

The trip to Manali is incomplete without exploring Solang valley which is 14 kilometers to the northwest of Manali, situated on the way from Rohtang to Manali. Solang valley is one of the major attractions of the entire Himachal Pradesh. You can get a variety of adventure sports near Solang Valley like paragliding, skiing, and zorbing. The adventure sports near the valley start from INR 500. If you are adventure enthusiasts remember to visit the valley between January to May or October to December. 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is the perfect time for paragliding. Paragliding activities are restricted during monsoons because of bad weather conditions. The cost of paragliding starts from INR 600 and above. The same conditions are applied for skiing and zorbing also, but the starting price is INR 500 per head. Apart from adventure activities, one can also enjoy photography and horse riding and you can also find a children's park near the Valley.

3 to 4 hours are enough to enjoy the scenario of Solang Valley. 

Approx 2 km from the famous Vashist Temple, Jogini waterfall is located. It is renowned because of the route from Vashisth Temple to jogini waterfall which is all about tracking. The height of the waterfall is 160 feet. This place is an ultimate pack for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the base of the Jogini waterfall and 3 hours to climb to the jogini waterfall from Vashishth Temple. You can also find restaurants and small hot cup chai shops while trekking. It is considered one of the most romantic attractions in Manali. There is no entry fee but make sure to wear appropriate shoes which will help for tracking.

 

Dedicated to the wife of Bheem and mother of Ghatotkach Hidimba Devi, the Hidimba temple is located in the middle of the snow-covered hills of Manali which lies about 2 km away from the main city of Manali. It is locally known as Dhungari Temple. It is different from other temples that's why it gets a major tourist attraction because of its beautiful and unique architecture like wooden doorways, walls, and cone-shaped roofs. If you want to know more about their culture visit Hidimba Devi Temple during the Navratri festival. During the Navratri, local people of Manali worship Hidimba Devi and perform their traditional 'Ghor Puja'.

 

Jana waterfall is another fall that will not feel to blow your mind with its beautiful surrounding of dense deodar and pine trees Amidst snow kept mountains. You can also enjoy trekking in the Jana Falls using a man-made Walk across. Proper sitting arrangements are made near the waterfall but it is advised to return before 7 p.m. because the electricity gets cut off near the area.

Manali witnesses summer from March to June. During these months the temperature varies between 10 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. The popular festival ghor Pooja is celebrated in Hidimba Temple. It is the peak season so it is advised to book your hotel or lodge in advance. 

 

Manali welcomes monsoon from July and stays till September. The temperature during these months ranges between 10 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius. You will get any tourist there during these months because most of the adventure sports and spots are restricted from visiting due to landslides and road blockage. But still, if you want to know about their culture and livelihood you can share visit during monsoon also. Hariyali festival in monsoon to honor the god of rain. Dance and song before showering. This festival is mainly celebrated by the local farmers of Manali. The plus point of visiting Manali in monsoon is you can escape from crowds and also avail discounts on hotel rooms etc. 

 

Manali witnessed winter from October to February. The temperature during winter goes below zero degrees celsius. The winter of Manali is worth watching. The surroundings are covered with white snow. People also celebrate winter carnivals in February.
