12 kilometers long, Pangong lake extends from India to Tibet. It is one of the famous tourist attractions in Ladakh as well as in India. The Pangong lake has a unique feature of changing color throughout the year, sometimes it changes color in a day also, azure to light blue to green and grey too!

Lake Pangong doesn't support aquatic life because of its binary water. Though one can witness many migrating birds and ducks surfing on the water. You can have delicious food from the stalls situated near the lake, they offer a variety of soaps, momos, Maggie, and tea. You should remember that boating in Pangong lake is prohibited because of some security reasons. 

 

You have to be ready for 5 hours of a breathtaking journey from Leh to visit Panging Lake. The whole journey is by road. Make sure to fill your petrol tank full, because there is no petrol pump between the path of Leh and Pangong Lake. There is an entry fee of INR 20 per person, you can explore the lake between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A maximum of 1 to 2 hours is required to explore the lake properly. 

 

Khardung La is a perfect way for adventure enthusiasts and mountain biking aficionados. 

The distance between Leh and Khardung La is 39 kilometers. It is known for being the highest motorway road in India, at an altitude of 5359 meters. You are required to have an inner permit to enter the pass and travel through it. The charge is INR 20-50 per person. 1 to 2 hours are required to reach the end of the path. 

 

 

35km from Leh in Nimmu, Sangam is the confluence of the longest river in Asia, the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. Tourists visit there to witness the spectacular view of two separate rivers, The Indus river appears shiny blue and the Zanskar River appears muddy green. There is no entry fee anyone can enjoy the majestic scenario. Sunrise and sunset are the best times to visit Sangam. 


 

April to June is considered the best season to visit Ladakh, Ladakh welcomes the sweet summer between these months. It is also the peak season in Ladakh. The temperature during these months varies from 30 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 5 degrees Celsius. The weather in summer remains warm and comfortable. Ladakh welcomes monsoon from July to August. The temperature during these months varies between 10 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius. Ladakh doesn't witness a long monsoon It stays for one or two months. Monsoon is the best time to enjoy white water rafting in Ladakh. 

In monsoon season also celebrates many festivals like Karsha Gustor which is held at Karsha, Zanskar Valley’s biggest monastery; the PheyangTsedup is the annual function of Ladakh. Visiting Ladakh during your monsoon sometimes becomes risky because of landslides and roads may get blocked because of improper ways, so this will disturb your entire journey. So make sure to check weather reports before planning your journey. 

 

Ladakh witnesses heavy winter from September to February. The temperature during these months goes below zero degrees celsius. -23 degrees celsius is the lowest temperature recorded. Winter is also considered the best time to visit Ladakh for one of the best trekking places chadar trek. Remember only the early face of winters are preferable for visiting Ladakh and trekking.
