Officially known as Kodagu, is the largest hill station in Karnataka. The basic occupation of the local people is the plantation of spice and coffee. 

 

10 km away from Madikeri, Abbey fall in Coorg is one of the must-visit places. The waterfall offers a majestic view. The cliff from where the water cascade comes is 70 feet high. The waterfall is surrounded by a beautiful green flora kingdom. Taking a bath or any kind of cliff jumping is prohibited, but there is an overbridge just opposite the fall. Through the bridge, tourists get to witness the beauty of the waterfall as well as the field where plantations of coffee, cardamom, pepper, and other spices are performed. It is advised to carry water and some food with you because there will be no shop near the fall and wear proper footwear for a comfortable journey. It will be great if one carries salt, this will help to get rid of leeches. 1 to 2 hours are enough to enjoy the views of the waterfall. There is an entry fee of INR 15 and an additional parking fee of INR 15 if required. The time to visit the waterfall is between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Daily.

 

Raja Seat is a popular spot to get the perfect view of sunrise and sunset. It is located in Madikeri. It has a beautiful garden with a variety of flowers and skillfully designed artificial fountains. The garden is a favorite destination for locals for gathering small picnic events. There is a musical foundation and a toy train available for kids and adults which will help you to explore the entire garden, it costs INR 20 per person. The viewpoint is built in a semicircle through which every visitor will get the perfect view. The entry charge for the garden is INR 5. Tourists are allowed to enter the garden from 5:30 AM - 7:30 PM, but the musical foundation starts from 7:00 PM onwards. 

 

 

Now the perfect place for adventure-seekers and nature lovers, Tadiandamol peak. It is the highest peak in Coorg and the second highest in the entire Karnataka. The best part of this peak is that everyone can enjoy the beauty and green surroundings, as half of the peak can be explored by vehicles. One can also choose to camp all food and water availability are there. There is an approx distance of 1.3 kilometers to reach the peak. It'll take 2-3 hours to cover a one-way distance. 

 

Located at a distance of 34 kilometers from the main town of Coorg, Namdroling Monastery is the largest teaching center of the school of Tibetan Buddhism known as Nyingmapa. This monastery is also known as Golden Temple. One can get to see the perfect architecture and artwork of Tibetan on the walls of the entrance and outside the temple. There are many markets outside the monastery, so one can collect Tibetan traditional stuff like dresses, statues, home decor, and jewelry. souvenirs for them or loved ones. One should remember that the restaurant near the temple closes soon by 7:00 pm. There is no entry fee and taking pictures is allowed inside the temple to make it a permanent memory. 

Visitors are allowed to enter the monastery between 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

 

Coorg offers a great field for adventure sports especially trekking. October to February is said to be the best period to visit Coorg to experience thrilling in your life. The temperature goes down to 10°C, with a maximum temperature of 25°C. 

March and April are also good months to visit valleys and temples. During these months the temperature ranges from 20°C to 35°C.

 

From June to September Coorg witnessed very heavy rainfall. The temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C in monsoon. The rainfall However makes a fresh environment but there will be problems in adventure sports because of landslides and in exploring the different places.
